The Christmas Angels program matches local families with sponsors who can provide toys and clothing to children during the holiday season.
In 2024, the Christmas Angels program matched 497 families for a total of 1,341 children with sponsors who provided gifts and clothing for the holiday season. United Way of Johnson County also partnered with several community organizations to assist the remaining 399 children from 149 families who were not directly sponsored to be sure that all children who needed assistance received holiday gifts.
Thanks to all the Johnson County sponsors and volunteers who helped the Christmas Angels program successfully impact 1,740 children from 646 Johnson County families.
How to receive Christmas Angels assistance - deadline of 10/28
Parents and legal guardians of children in Johnson County, Indiana can apply for Christmas assistance through the Christmas Angels program. If your child(ren) attends a Johnson County, Indiana school, please contact your child's counselor to receive an application.
If you do not have school-aged children, you may request a Christmas Angels application, by clicking on the button below labeled "Request our Christmas Assistance Application". Within 24 business hours, your requests will be processed. You will be e-mailed a link and specific code that you will use to complete the application. Make sure to upload all requested documents.
We will not be taking in-person applications. Please do not come to the United Way office as we will not be allowing individuals to come into the office. How you receive your Christmas Assistance will be determined by each sponsor and United Way of Johnson County.

You must be a Johnson County resident to apply for Christmas Angels. If you are not a Johnson County resident and are in need of Christmas assistance, please call 211 and they will direct you on where to go or go online to: Indiana 211 (communityos.org)
How you can help Johnson County families for Christmas
There are two ways to assist families in Johnson County through the Christmas Angels program.
1. Serve as a Family Sponsor to directly purchase gifts for children in a particular family or families. Family Sponsors can be individuals, families, service groups, neighborhoods, business, faith-based groups, etc. who provide Christmas assistance for particular children in the community.

2. Serve as a Gift Sponsor to provide toy and gift items for the Angel Tree Store. Each year we have more families apply for assistance than we do sponsors. In order to serve all families who qualify, Gift Sponsors provide items for the Angel Tree Store so that parents whose children are not matched to a sponsor can come and pick out gifts for their children.
