No Place to Call Home

Making Homelessness Rare, Brief, and Non-Reoccuring

Johnson County has no emergency shelter. For individuals and families facing eviction, utility shutoff, or homelessness, No Place to Call Home is often the only safety net available. United Way of Johnson County funds housing stabilization assistance for Johnson County residents in crisis, working through our network of trusted partner agencies — including Gateway Services, Turning Point Domestic Violence Services, Firefly Children & Family Alliance, and The Salvation Army — whose case managers identify clients in need and refer them for support.

When a referral is received, UWJC provides direct financial assistance — paid to landlords and utility providers on behalf of clients — to prevent eviction, restore utilities, or help someone transitioning out of homelessness secure a new place to live. Because we work through the agencies already walking alongside our community's most vulnerable neighbors, help reaches the people who need it most, quickly and with care.

If you or someone you know needs housing stabilization assistance in Johnson County, please contact one of our partner agencies or call our Helpline at 317.736.7840.
