Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are at the heart of our operation.

United Way of Johnson County is always looking for volunteers for our many committees that serve those in need in our community. Below is a list of available volunteer opportunities with brief descriptions.  If you are interested, please complete the volunteer inquiry at the bottom of the page and submit.

Christmas Angel Volunteer
Assist staff in matching individuals, organizations and corporate donors with Johnson County families in need of clothing and toys for their children at Christmas.

Communication Volunteer
Develop and implement a year-round community-wide communications program for the annual campaign Kick-Off and Annual Celebration events that listens to, educates and involves people.

Day of Caring Project Manager
Assist organized teams with their assigned projects to ensure they have adequate tools and supplies. Communicate with agencies and volunteer groups throughout the process.

Helpline Assistant
Assist the Helpline Director with data entry of confidential information and other clerical duties as needed.

Loaned Executive
Lend your time, talents and skills making presentations at workplace campaigns throughout the Johnson County.

Office Volunteer
Help with important everyday tasks, such as mailing, filing and assembling of information packets.

Operation Bundle Up Committee
Organize collection and distribution of winter coats through formed partnerships within the community.

Phone-a-thon Caller
Work as part of a team during annual Leadership Giving Phone-A-Thon making calls to current and potential contributors asking for continued, increased or new contributions. Average asks exceed $500.

Photographer
Donate your time and talent capturing smiles, laughs, and good times at United Way programs and events.

Volunteer Coordinator
Assist staff with recruitment, training, supervision and recognition of volunteers.

Fast Track Opportunities

Speakers Bureau Committee
Develop and execute a marketing plan. The plan includes creating an awareness of Fast Track and how it works, how to get involved and how to donate.

Stuff the Bus Committee
Plan and coordinate the Stuff the Bus event.

Collections Committee
Serves as the liaison between Fast Track and Johnson County churches and businesses. The committee members are responsible for ensuring that key churches and businesses are contacted and have the necessary materials to collect school supplies and/or make cash contributions.

Resource Partners Committee
Charged with recruiting, informing and coordinating the resource partners of each Fast Track event.

Fund Development Committee
Raise $5,000 for Fast Track through fundraising initiatives at local businesses in Johnson County throughout the year.
