United Way of Johnson County ProgramsUnited Way of Johnson County organizes six programs out of our office. Please click on the link below for more information. Helpline Johnson County - Assists persons with information and provides referrals to local agencies and community resources; connects volunteers with local non-profit organizations in need of assistance. Day of Caring - This program is an exciting community event that partners volunteers of all ages with non-for-profit organizations. Volunteers assist agencies with meaningful tasks that promote operations, education and public relations. It is a win-win activity for the whole community. Fast Track- Fast Track is a countywide school readiness program which provides backpacks, school supplies and other items to help low-income students be prepared for the first day of school. Operation Bundle Up - This is a program that provides new and gently used winter coats to children and families in Johnson County. UWJC partners with schools in Johnson County to collect coats throughout the fall. Milto Cleaners cleans all donated coats, and they are distributed in late fall. Christmas Angels - This program matches local families with sponsors who can provide toys and clothing to children during the holiday season. UWJC also partners with Grace United Methodist Church to run the Angel Tree Store, which gives out toys and clothing donated by local businesses and individuals. Economic Assistance Plan - United Way of Johnson County is partnering with several local organizations to provide services for families who have recently lost their jobs or have had a significant loss of income due to the economy. Disaster Relief - United Way of Johnson County also played a key role in the disaster relief efforts from the June 2008 floods that ravaged our community. As of Dec. 31, 2010 these relief efforts were completed and UWJC and JCCOAD would like to thank everyone who helped make this effort possible. |
